It was one of those soft, quiet evenings—the kind that seems wrapped in stillness. I had just come from an intense prayer session when a dear friend reached out. She sounded contemplative, her voice slow and weighted with meaning.
“I need to share something with you,” she said. “It’s a dream I had… and it hasn’t left me since.”
I listened carefully as she painted the scene. In her dream, she found herself at a hill—an ordinary hill, yet in the spirit, it felt anything but. Upon its slope stood a tree, leaning to the side, but full of life. What caught her attention, and mine too as she spoke, was that this tree held many doves. Not one, not two—but many. White doves resting calmly on the branches, their presence gentle yet commanding.
Then she added something curious. “I remember thinking in the dream, ‘I hope my husband sees this.’” Her husband is also in the ministry, seeking the anointing and the deeper mysteries of God. It was as though her spirit was longing—not just to see—but to have someone else see. To witness what was being revealed.
Behind the hill, she noted, was a homestead. A woman emerged from this place, and the entire scenery bore a striking resemblance to the land where she grew up as a child.
Now, as she narrated, something leapt in my spirit. You see, when you walk long enough with God, you begin to recognize when a dream is divine. This wasn’t the product of a tired mind or a late-night snack. This was a message from heaven. A prophetic dream coded with symbols of destiny, anointing, and spiritual transition.
Let me explain.
The Hill – The Place of Elevation and Encounter
Hills in Scripture are not just geographical features. They are places of encounter. Think of Mount Sinai, where Moses met with God. Or Mount Carmel, where Elijah called down fire. Hills are prophetic of a place where heaven meets earth.
Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV) says: “I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help, My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”
In dreams, a hill often represents a journey toward spiritual elevation. It speaks of climbing, seeking, hungering for more of God. But in this dream, the hill was not just a place of ascent—it was a place of sight. A place where doves were resting. Which brings me to the next symbol.
The Tree Full of Doves – A Manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s Resting Place
My heart burned when she described the tree. Trees, biblically, often symbolize people, nations, or spiritual states. In Psalm 1, the righteous man is described as:
“A tree planted by rivers of water…” (Psalm 1:3, NKJV)
But this tree wasn’t just standing—it was hosting the doves.
Now, doves in Scripture are almost always symbolic of the Holy Spirit. At Jesus’ baptism, it is written:
“And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him…” (Luke 3:22, NKJV)
A dove is not a forceful bird. It is gentle, sensitive, and only rests where it finds peace and holiness. The image of many doves on one tree is deeply prophetic. It shows that the anointing of the Holy Spirit is resting heavily on a person, ministry, or place. It shows divine approval. It shows a dwelling—not just visitation.
What caught my spirit even more was the dreamer’s desire: “I hope my husband sees this.” What a profound spiritual insight—because the move of God is not just for one, it is to be seen, received, and walked into together.
It’s one thing to see the anointing, another to perceive it spiritually. Just as Elisha cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” when Elijah was taken (2 Kings 2:12), the spirit of discernment is needed to recognize divine seasons.
The Woman from the Homestead – A Symbol of Roots and Bloodlines
In dreams, returning to places of childhood or family origin often signifies a return to spiritual foundations, or sometimes a call to deal with foundational issues.
But the woman who came from the homestead wasn’t frightening—just present. Her emergence signifies that there is something in the family or past that needs spiritual attention. It might be a connection to generational blessings or perhaps a prompting to intercede for one’s bloodline.
Jeremiah 6:16 (NKJV) says:
“Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it…”
Could it be that the Spirit was pointing to something in the old paths? Something in that past—maybe even a covenant—that was either to be redeemed or renewed?
The Stillness and the Setting – Anxiety and Anticipation
Another critical element of the dream was the atmosphere of anxiety and waiting. I’ve learned over the years that in prophetic dreams, emotions are prophetic clues.
There was a pause in the dream. A sense of expectancy. Almost like a spiritual transition was about to occur. The doves weren’t flying—they were waiting. That’s significant.
Sometimes, the anointing is already present—but it is waiting for someone to perceive and respond to it.
Just like in John 5, when the angel would stir the water at the pool of Bethesda. The healing was there—but only for those who stepped in.
“For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first… was made well…” (John 5:4, NKJV)
The dream reflects a moment like that. A stirring. A divine atmosphere hovering. The question is—who will move first? Who will perceive and align?
Interpreting the Whole: A Prophetic Picture of Calling, Alignment, and Ministry
As I meditated on the full dream, I heard the Lord whisper something so clearly:
“This is a picture of a woman being invited to see what I am about to release—but also being called to stand as an intercessor for her husband, her family, and her past.”
It’s not just about one person seeing the doves—it’s about the entire household stepping into alignment with God’s season.
The tree with doves is the divine calling, the ministry, the favor. The hill is the process—you have to climb, to seek, to surrender.
The homestead is the foundation—the places you thought you left, but where God is still working.
The anxiety? That’s the Holy Spirit nudging you, saying, “Don’t delay. This is the moment.”
Therefore…
Dreams like this are not just messages—they are invitations. The Lord is inviting us to perceive what He is doing, to rise to the hill and sit under the tree of His presence, to prepare—not just physically, but spiritually—for the journey He is about to take us on.
If you have seen doves in your dream, or trees, or familiar places with a sense of divine presence, know this: Heaven is speaking. And the Spirit is resting. Will you recognize it? Will you align?
As I told my friend, I believe God is calling many of us to that sacred hill. The doves are there. The anointing is waiting. And the journey, though quiet for now, is about to begin.
Amen.
