Hello and welcome back, we’re so glad that you are here, where we could study the word of God, receive it into our lives, apply it and see the impact the truth has in our own lives, we’re so glad to be doing this. We’ve been meditating on the Lord Jesus’ question to Peter, ‘who do you say that I am?’ Peter answers and the Lord points out that this revelation is from God Himself and it is not from flesh and blood meaning it is not any natural means of information but from God Himself. The things is that for every believer, the Lord wants to reveal more Himself every day.
Even as we seek Him, the Holy Spirit inspires and reveals more of God to us. Today, we look at this aspect/ revelation where the bible says that the Lord is the baptizer. John chapter 1, verse 33 says, ‘I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’’ He was referring to the Messiah, that He is the baptizer, the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. The whole aspect of baptism is an experience of being completely overwhelmed, surrounded, immersed in the Holy Spirit. This experience is for every believer in the Lord Jesus, every believer, young and old in Jesus.
With salvation, we receive the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit and for every believer who has the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is this experience of being baptized in the Holy Spirit and the Lord Jesus is the baptizer. Mathew chapter 3, verse 11, John says, ‘I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.’ The Lord Jesus’s instruction to the disciples just before He ascended into heaven, this is the instruction He gave, Acts chapter 1, verse 5, ‘for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’ This experience is for every believer and in the next verse, the Lord says, why we need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. It says, ‘But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.’ The Lord’s desire is for every believer to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, to be filled, to be endued, to be clothed with power and to be His witnesses. In other words, He is saying, I want you to be a witness who will witness with power.
So, today, if the Lord will ask, who do you say that I am? You can say, Lord, you are the baptizer, baptize me with the Holy Spirit and fire so I can be clothed with power to be a witness for you. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for being the baptizer and today, we ask that you will baptize us, fill us with your Holy Spirit and power that we might be witness with power. We pray for each believer who is listening that the gifts of the Spirit will be released and I pray that we will display your power and be witnesses wherever you call us and send us, we thank you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
